Federico García received his PhD with international mention in Materials Science and Engineering (cum laude) at the Carlos III University of Madrid in November 2018. He was awarded with the UC3M extraordinary PhD award in 2019. In 2020 he obtained the three figures of accreditation from the Academic Staff Recruitment Assessment Programme (PEP) of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
He obtained three contracts associated to research projects at UC3M to work as a senior graduate in the period 2011-2013. From January 2014 to December 2017 he had a pre-doctoral position at CENIM supported by the Ministry of Competitiveness and Economy (MINECO). From July 2018 to February 2019 he had a temporary contract associated with a research project at CENIM. During these periods, he had two international stays, one of them at the Univ. Of Manchester (Oct-Dec 2013) funded with a grant for the mobility of research staff from UC3M and another one at Nottingham Trent Univ. (March-June 2016) funded with a mobility grant for predoctoral students from the MINECO. Since January 2019, he has worked as a full time lecturer at the European University of Madrid teaching subjects in the degrees of Industrial Engineering and the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering in the subjects of Energy Technology and Technology in Chemical Engineering. Since 2020 he directs the Master Degree in Industrial Engineering.
Due to his international connections and collaborative works, he has publications with Prof. Perry (Nottingham Trent Univ., UK) and A.A. El Hadad (McGill Univ., Montreal, Canada) in Prog Org Coat. In 2015, he collaborated at CENIM in the training of one graduate student form the Univ. Simon Bolivar, Venezuela, with whom he published 2 papers in the Corr. Sci. and RSC Advances, respectively. In 2018, he collaborated in the training of 3 graduate students from the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies, Mérida, Mexico, with whom he published 1 article in Rev. Metal Madrid. He has 16 publications (11 scientific articles and 5 book chapters). Thirteen of these publications are indexed in WoS. Nine of these publications are classified in the first quartile (Q1), either in WoS or in Scopus (percentile > 75%) and, 4 in the first decile (D1). Additionally, he has 2 book chapters, which are classified as Q1 in the CSIC bibliographic databases. He has participated in 6 projects financed by the National R+D+i Plans and 1 internal project un Universidad Europea de Madrid. Actually he is an external member of the work team of an R+D+i Project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Ref. PID2019-104717RB-I00). He has participated with 10 contributions in national scientific meetings and 24 in international meetings, several of them indexed in Google Scholar. His mid-to-long term scientific-technical interests and objectives are focused on four lines of research closely related to the electrochemistry of materials:
1)Self-repairing sol-gel coatings for active protection of metal surfaces.
2)Multifunctional materials for energy (supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries).
3)Corrosion and Protection of light alloys (Mg, Al and Ti)
4)Application of global and local impedance spectroscopy, scanning kelvin probe, scanning electrochemical microscope and scanning vibrating electrode techniques to Material Science research.
