Abstract
The Trasquilon tin deposit belongs to the albitite-greisen type. The mineralization, mainly cassiterite, is disseminated in albitized and kaolinized leucogranites, and the ore veins form a stockwork. The ore is located at the top of a granitic cupola cross-cutting the schist-greywacke complex. The structural control of the mineralization, and the geochemical features of the granite are studied by means of viscosity calculation and K, Rb, Ba, Sr and alkalis diagrams. This 'specialized' granite originated by late crystallization of a highly differentiated magma. It was intruded at a shallow level of the crust. The mineral association is also established. The beneficiated ore minerals are cassiterite and columbite-tantalite, but the veins also contain amblygonite and Cu, Sn, Zn sulphides. A correlation of this deposit is made with similar ones in the Spanish Hercynian basement and in the European Hercynian belt.-C.N.
