Abstract

The 1:1 CH3 CN: BCl3 complex was prepared by reacting equimolecular quantities of CH3 CN and BCl3 and was characterized by IR, 1 H-NMR, 13C- NMR, mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis. High resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) suggest that the stoichiometry of the filaments ca.[BC2N] obtained from pyrolysis of CH3-CN:BCl 3. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.
