Brief description ot the activity
During my PhD studies (2004-2009), at Instituto de Sistemas Optoelectrónicos y Microtecnología that belongs to Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, my research field was focused on the growth by Molecular Beam Epitaxy and characterization, by means of several techniques, of III-N compound semiconductors, especially in the knowledge of the basic properties of InN. Very little was known at that point of InN and my research work contributed to determine most of its properties. In addition, I have used characterization techniques such as SEM, AFM, EBL, XRD, PL, FTIR, and Hall effect measurements. From June 2008 to July 2010 I had a position as Teaching Assistant at UPM where I have taught 160 hours of theoretical and practical lectures.
In my first postdoctoral year, still at ISOM, I participate in a European Project (SMASH) focused on the selective area growth of nanowires structures for the fabrication of high efficiency white light LEDs.
On October 1st, 2010, I joined Prof. Steven Ringel group in The Ohio State University. My research work was conducted to the metamorphic growth by MBE of step-graded buffer layers of GaAsP for photovoltaic devices. In addition, I worked in the improvement of the integration of III-V compound semiconductors with Silicon substrates via GaP on Si and SiGe. I have also conducted the structural and optical characterization by means of XRD-RSM and PL, respectively. Last but not least, I was the responsible in a research project dedicated to the growth of quantum dots (QDs) on metamorphic substrates in order to investigate the intermediate band to improve the performance of solar cells. This postdoctoral period finished on June 30th, 2012.
On October 1st, 2012 I joined the Paul Drude Institut für Festkörperelektronik of Berlin within the Mikrostruktur department. My role was the characterization by TEM of nanowires heterostructures of III-As, III-N and the impact of defect formation in their growth. In addition, I have established collaborations with Microelectrónica Lab of the UAM and CIEMAT for the investigation of nanowires of Ga(As,P) and AlZnO thin films, respectively, for photovoltaic applications. This postdoctoral period finished on December 31st, 2014.
On April 1st, 2015 I joined again ISOM-UPM where I am involved in the investigation of III-nitrides materials for the fabrication of LEDs and photovoltaic applications.
On September 15th, 2016 I joined UCM under the supervision of Dr. María Varela del Arco. My role was the characterization, by means of atomic resolution STEM and EEL Spectroscopy, of complex oxides and their magnetic properties. This postdoctoral period finished on August 31st, 2017.
From September 2017 to July 2021, I was Profesor Ayudante Doctor at UPM where I teach General Physics I and II and I joined the Group of Magnetic Devices where I am developing my research in the field of Applied Physics, growth of nano materials (semiconductors and ferromagnetic) and scanning and transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and atomic forces microscopy (AFM).
I have participated in the project lead by Prof. José Luis Prieto Martín entitled: "Fabricación y caracterización de nanodispositivos magnéticos con aplicaciones en magnónica y sistemas de gran acoplo espín órbita (MAGORBIT)". The project started in Jan-2017 and finished in Dec-2020.
