I am Assistant Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), director of the research laboratory of "Medical images, surgical training and image-guided surgery" of the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB-UPM), senior researcher at Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine Centre (GBT) and senior researcher at the National Center for Research in Bioengineering, Biomaterial and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN) of the National Institute of Health.

I am telecommunication engineer since 2006, where I started my spezialization in Biomedical Engineering (BME). In December 2011 I defended my PhD thesis, entitled "Laparoscopic video analysis for training in minimally invasive surgery and image-guided surgery", in which I obtained Outstanding cum laude and the award for best PhD thesis from UPM.

I have participated in 18 national projects and 14 European projects. In addition, I have been the Spanish representative for two COST projects. I am author of more than 40 journal articles (20 in Q1 journals), more than 100 international and national conferences, and 4 book chapters. I have supervised more than 120 End-of-Degree Projects and 1 PhD thesis. In addition, since 2007 I have participated in teaching activities within the BME BSc, Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering and Master of Science at BME at UPM. Since May 2021 I am the Coordinator of the BME BSc at the UPM.

I belong to several Scientific Congress Committees, such as the IADIS International Conference-ehealth, Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery congress, the Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Congress of the Spanish Society of Surgical Research.
