Brief description ot the activity
Angel Garcia-Pedrero, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Universidad de Politécnica de Madrid. He has a degree in Computer Systems Engineering, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. His main research interests are data analysis, image understanding and image interpretation (remotely sensed and medical images). More specifically, his work examines automatic techniques for image analysis. Its current research is within the scope of the Deep Learning paradigm for Image Analysis.
His main contributions are the following:
(a) Scientific contributions
- Participation in 15 projects (3 European projects, 3 International projects, 4 National projects, 1 Regional project, and 4 Local projects funded by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).
(b) International activities
- Participation in 3 European projects funded by the European Commission in different programs (H2020, EIT-HEALTH), and 3 International projects in collaboration with the Universidad de Concepción (Chile).
- 1 predoctoral stay in the Universidad de Concepción (Chile).
- 1 participation in the organization of an international conference (IWOBI 2017).
(c) Other merits
- Ph.D. obtained with an international mention in a Ph.D. Program of Excellence.
- 2 competitive grants by public bodies and entities, including one for the realization of a Master Degree and other for the Ph.D. (both by the National Council of Science and Technology, CONACYT-Mexico).
- 6 courses taught at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
- Supervision of 3 Ph.D. thesis (ongoing) and 7 final degree projects.
- Participation in 1 Teaching Innovation Project.
- Positively evaluated as "Contratado Doctor", "Ayudante Doctor", and "Profesor de Universidad Privada" by the ANECA.
