Brief description ot the activity
Dr. Yu Kyoung Ryu is Assistant Professor at Departamento de Física Aplicada e Ingeniería de Materiales (E.T.S.I Industriales, UPM). Currently, she develops her research focused on graphene in energy applications and thermal scanning probe lithography at Instituto de Sistemas Optoelectrónicos y Microtecnología (UPM).
She received the Physics degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She achieved the PhD in 2015 at Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM, CSIC), under the supervision of Prof. Ricardo Garcia. She did a postdoctoral stay at IBM Research Zurich in the group of Dr. Armin Knoll (Jan. 2016 - Sep. 2017) and a postodctoral stay at ICMM (CSIC) in the group of Dr. Andrés Castellanos-Gomez (Feb. 2019 - Jan. 2020).
She has expertise in the patterning and fabrication of nanodevices based on Si and 2D materials by scanning probe lithography techniques and the application of laser-induced graphene as supercapacitors. She has published 25 peer-reviewed articles in international journals (including ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Physical Review Letters, 2D Materials), 3 book chapters and a scientific book. She is the co-supervisor of 2 PhD, 4 MSc and 2 BSc thesis students.
