Resumen
This study explores the impact of resampling and interpolation methods on the quality of Digital Elevation Models served from Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF files and compares Nearest, Bilinear, and Lanczos methods in terms of computational performance. Cloud-optimized GeoTIFF files have significantly enhanced the distribution of large elevation datasets, crucial for various disciplines. However, resampling during reprojection and pyramid tiling generation can introduce artifacts such as terracing, which affects data integrity. Interpolation methods have been implemented to increase the visualization resolution from 25 to 2 m. Visual, statistic and comparative profiles analysis were made. The results showed that while the Nearest neighbor” method is inappropriate due to the introduction of artificial terraces, the model obtained by the Lanczos method offers a good fit, adequately describing the roughness and singularities of the terrain. The Lanczos interpolation method can be considered a good alternative for a quality representation of the landform.
