Resúmen

The European Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC/CCA) is a centre of thematic expertise contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to carry out specific tasks identified in the EEA strategy and specified in the EEA Annual Management Plans (AMPs) in the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation across Europe. The ETC/ACC consortium comprises 10 European institutes led by the Italian Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change ( CMCC ) . ETC/CCA can be considered the successor of parts of the European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC) and since 1 January 2011 it assists the EEA in its support to EU policy by improving information including on: data and indicators on climate change and its impacts across sectors and regions, assessment of climate change vulnerabilities and natural hazard risks to society and ecosystems and current or planned adaptation strategies and actions. The ETC/CCA contributes also to the Adaptation Clearinghouse for Europe (ACE) currently under development, as a follow-up of the EU Commission White paper on Adaptation to climate change . The ETC/CCA participates in the cycle of large assessments every 5 years ( 'European State of the Environment and Outlook Report 2010' - SOER 2010 being the most recent) as well as in more detailed thematic and sectoral assessments in the intermediate years (e.g. on freshwater and coastal systems).
