My RESEARCH activity has been linked to the
study of the plant cell wall and, specifically, its role in different biotic
and abiotic stresses. The following summary shows a trajectory that integrates
basic science and agronomic applications, synthesized in 26 scientific articles
(all Q1), 2 international book chapters and 1 patent in operation in three
countries. h-index = 21 and 2515 total citations. I achieved the Research Quality I3 National Certification (2019) and have been granted two six-year research periods
(2020).
After completing the Thesis at the
University of Valencia (2007) and a postdoctoral stay at the University of
Antwerp (Belgium), I joined at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM; 2010). I
developed my research with a Juan de la Cierva MICINN Postdoctoral contract and
later as a Doctoral Assistant Professor at the Center for Plant Biotechnology
and Genomics (CBGP; UPM-INIA/CSIC) where I worked on a new line of research on
cell wall integrity and the derived signals that regulate the plant's immune
responses. In this period I published 8 scientific articles, all Q1 and with an
average impact index of 6.3. Among these works, there are three belonging to
the development of a Doctoral Thesis with European Mention and Extraordinary
Award of which I was Co-director. In 2020 I started working as a Doctor I3
Excellent Contract Professor at UPM under Community of Madrid support, which also has allowed me
to develop a new line of research at the ETSIAAB, for which I am responsible,
called: Plant responses to abiotic stresses mediated to the cell wall, which is
financed by the Community of Madrid (2020/2024). In July 2022 I got the
position of Associate Professor at UPM. In addition, I have led three UPM
Sustainability and Cooperation projects with 11 partners in 8 Latin American
countries. In this period I have published 4 scientific articles, all Q1 and
with an average impact index of 6.3. Regarding mobility, I have been able to
enjoy predoctoral stays (9 months; Santiago de Compostela and Osaka, Japan) and
Postdoctoral stays (25 months; Antwerpen, Belgium and Georgia, USA).
Regarding my TEACHING activity, I have
taught a total of 1600 hours in 6 different Degrees and Master's degrees. I
have participated in teaching a total of 17 subjects, being coordinator of 6 of
them. The average score from the surveys is 9/10. I have the EXCELLENT certificate of DOCENTIA-ANECA teaching quality, which is why I have achieved a
five-year teaching period at the UPM. I have been awarded several Gold, Silver
and Bronze Spikes for teaching work. I have three teaching publications and
attendance at national and international teaching conferences. I have also been
PI of two educational innovation projects. Regarding training and updating in
teaching tasks, I completed the UPM Initial Teacher Training course (20 ECTS) and
a total of 16 short courses. In 2019, I obtained the ANECA- Accreditation as an Associate Professor.
In relation to UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT, from
October 2019 to July 2021 (Pandemic period) I held the position of Deputy Director of Student
Services at the ETSI Agronomic, Food and Biosystems School of the UPM, which
has allowed me to get to know the institution and its operation in depth ,
both at an administrative and manager level. Since October 2022, I have been
mobility coordinator for the Biotechnology Degree.
