Descripción Breve de Actividad Realizada
Dr. Eng. Antonio Cobo holds a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering (Cum Laude), an MSc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering, and an MSc. degree in Telemedicine and Bioengineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He is a Researcher in the Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (BBN) department of the Networked Centre for Biomedical Research (CIBER) of the Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII), Spain. He is also a fellow member of the Centre for Biomedical Technology (CTB) of the UPM, Spain since its creation in 2008 and a former member of UPM’s Bioengineering and Telemedicine Group (GBT). His contributions to the field of smart-home technologies over the past seventeen years include 18 publications in journals and conferences and a patent. He has been working on blind people’s spatial perception with contributions to the characterization of their interaction with Virtual Reality for Orientation and Mobility applications. He has been a team leader in four international, European, and national research projects on smart-home technologies to promote healthy lifestyles. Since the launch of the CTB AgeingLab in 2015, he has been working on smart-home technologies for healthy aging. In particular, his research involves unobtrusively monitoring older people’s motor and behavioral patterns.
